UP Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap assured farmers and order to cancel licence of shopkeepers

Amid the shortage of urea that has been going on in the cooperative centers in Uttar Pradesh for several days, Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi said in Lucknow on 19 August 2020, "Sufficient urea is available for farmers in the state and we farmers in all districts There will be no shortage of manure. "


According to the Agriculture Minister, in the Kharif season, till August 15 this year, 27.31 lakh metric tons of urea has come in the state, about 21 lakh metric tons of urea has been sold in this, so still, more than 6.89 lakh metric tons of urea have in stock. Minister Surya Pratap Shahi said till August 18, 12.79 lakh metric tons of urea is available in the cooperative sector in the state, while the same number is 12.88 lakh metric tons with private vendors, i.e. 5.25 lakh metric tons more than last year. Now, within three days, five racks of urea will also reach districts like Gorakhpur, Unnao, Deoria, and Moradabad, so all farmers will get urea. "


On the question of selling urea to private fertilizers at expensive prices, the Agriculture Minister said, "Officers of all districts have been instructed to conduct raids on private fertilizers and take the strictest action in case of irregularities.

The license of sellers selling urea at higher prices will be revoked. "The Agriculture Minister also said," Besides, instructions have also been given to identifying the top 10 buyers of urea in the district so that farmers are unable to stock urea. Also, the government is working on the online procurement of urea in the state through QR code, IFFCO officials have also been directed for this and our effort is to procure soon through digital payment. "
