The Punjab Assembly on Friday passed a resolution on behalf of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, rejecting three agriculture ordinances and possible power amendment bills issued by the central government.

The Assembly has passed a resolution repealing the three agricultural ordinances brought by the central government. Along with this, the resolution has been passed that the Center issued an ordinance to give legal rights to the minimum support price of every crop so that there is no danger of the government withdrawing from the MSP in any way in the future.

Apart from this, a proposal to repeal the Electricity Amendment Bill 2020 was also passed. Presenting the proposal, the Chief Minister said that the Punjab Vidhan Sabha is worried about the problems faced by the farmers due to the three ordinances of the Center.

It was supported by all except BJP MLAs. While presenting the proposal, the Chief Minister said that the Punjab Legislative Assembly was seriously concerned about the three ordinances.

Farmer Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Ordinance 2020, Farmers' (Empowerment and Security) Agreement on Price Insurance and Farm Services Ordinance 2020 and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Ordinance 2020, issued by the Central Government and proposed electricity ( Amendment) Bill 2020 is against the interests of farmers and landless laborers.

Agriculture has been made the subject of states in the number 14 entry recorded in the second list of the constitution, so this ordinance is against the spirit of cooperative federalism as recorded in the constitution.

He said that this house appeals to the central government that these ordinances and proposed The Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2020 be withdrawn immediately. Instead, an ordinance should be issued to give legal powers to the Minimum Support Price (MSP).

Punjab Govt. is first state govt who came first for supporting the farmers. We said thanks to the Punjab govt. who understand the situation and problem of farmers. Let us see now who will come in front to support the farmers.
