IMD released the forecast of Monsoon 2020

As we know that monsoonal rain is very important especially for farmers because some area farmers were totally dependent on rain. We also aware this is a tough time for our country due to coronavirus. Govt was already has taken some measures steps to control the coronavirus in India before the situation is critical. Govt supports the farmers and relief some notifications for them. Recently the IMD release the southwest Monsoon and waiting for Skymet  Monsoon forecast for 2020. Let us read what IMD has predicted for this year.

When released and how much accuracy


The India Meteorological Department, IMD released the forecast of Southwest Monsoon for this 2020 year on April 15, 2020. The Meteorological Department has predicted 100% monsoon rainfall as compared to the long period average. It also has an estimated error margin of 5%. That is, rain maybe 95% or 105% of LPA if conditions are favorable or opposite.

Possibility of  Monsoon Forecast


It also states that Between June and September, India receives an average of 887 millimeters of rain during the four-month monsoon season, which is around 70% of the total annual rainfall. According to the monsoon forecast, the probability of less than 90% rainfall is just 9%. The probability of 90-96% of rain is 20%, the probability of 96-104% of rain is 41%. The probability of 104–110% rainfall is 21%. Whereas the probability of more than 110% rainfall is just 9%. The Meteorological Department estimates that the monsoon 2020 will be normal as the range of probability is 41% between 96 and 104.

Next Monsoon Forecast 

The Indian Meteorological Department will release the second forecast of Monsoon 2020 in the last week of May or the first week of June. At the same time, the department will also release rain forecasts for the months of July and August.
