According to the Skymet weather agency, the withdrawal of monsoon from western Uttar Pradesh had begun by October 6, it had also departed from central parts of Uttar Pradesh. But after a 15-day break from eastern Uttar Pradesh, the monsoon has returned on October 21.

For the last several days, all the districts of Uttar Pradesh have been dry. Between October 1 and October 21, western Uttar Pradesh has received 100% less rainfall while eastern Uttar Pradesh has received 97% less rainfall. After the return of monsoon, this week will remain dry for most districts of Uttar Pradesh. Day and night temperatures have slowly started to decline. Due to the drop in the minimum temperature, the weather in the morning and night will remain cool and due to the strong sunlight during the day, there will be mild heat.


Light to moderate at many places over northern coastal parts of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, northern interior Karnataka, and coastal Karnataka during the next 24 hours while heavy rains at some places. Whereas light to moderate rains may occur over Kerala, Tamil Nadu, South Telangana, Central Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa, Interior Odisha, Andaman, and the Nicobar Islands, Assam, and parts of Meghalaya. Light rains may occur at some places in South Gujarat. In the rest of the country, the weather is expected to be mainly dry, 

Farmers were advised to harvest paddy crops rapidly in the dry season. Farmers are also advised, not to burn the residue of Kharif crops (paddy) in the fields because it is not only polluting the environment but also causes severe health (respiratory) problems. It can be used as mulch for decreasing soil evaporation and to conserve soil moisture. Pusa decomposer capsule can be used @ 4 capsules/ha for decomposing the residue of the paddy.


Keeping the temperature in view sowing of mustard should be done during this week. This is a suitable time for the sowing of a pea. Before sowing, farmers are advised to ensure optimum soil moisture for better seed germination. Sowing of garlic and carrot can be done in a raised bed. Sowing of grams should be done this week. 

Transplanting of mature seedlings of cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, and tomato may also be done in raised beds. Recommended spacing should be maintained. Nursery preparation should be started for the late crop which matures in December or January. In current weather conditions, the rouging of the virally infected crops should be done in chili and tomato.
