While the harvesting of Zaid crops is going on in many states, farmers in some states have started preparations for the sowing of Kharif crops. In order to protect the crops from economic losses due to natural calamities, it is necessary

that the farmers insure their crops so that they can be repaid in case of crop damage. The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, being run since 2016, ensures protection against crop loss during the entire crop cycle activities from sowing to post-harvest. In some states, the process of nomination of farmers under the crop insurance scheme has started and in some states, the sowing of crops will begin simultaneously.

Farmer registration started in these states for Kharif 2021

For the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, only seven states have joined for the Kharif crop of 2021. Under this scheme, other states can join with further sowing of Kharif crops by June 15. At present, farmers of 7 states can apply under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.

Only 4 states of the country have joined for the insurance year 2021 of the weather-based crop. This state is as follows:- Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are included. Farmers of these four states can provide insurance for weather-based crops. Different crops were covered under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana in different districts.

They can be included in the scheme by having the sowing confirmation certificate verified by the Regional Patwari or Rural Agricultural Extension Officer and submitting other documents.

Under the Crop Insurance Scheme, loanee farmers can get this way done under the registration scheme, loanee farmers can get crop insurance on a voluntary basis. The farmer must submit the signed declaration form in the prescribed form, 7 days before the last date of insurance, to the concerned bank.

Under the insurance scheme, the loanee farmers will be compulsorily insured by the concerned bank, cooperative society. They only have to produce a declaration and sowing certificates.
