In the current Rabi Marketing Session (RMS) of 2021-22, Government of India has continued procurement of Rabi crop on MSP from farmers. Out of the total procurement of 222.33 lakh MT till 25 April, Punjab - 84.15 lakh MT, Haryana - 71.76 lakh MT and Madhya Pradesh - 51.57 lakh MT have made major contributions. About Rs 43,912 crore has already been paid to about 21.17 lakh wheat farmers
In Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and other procurement states and Union Territories, the procurement of wheat is going on at a fast pace and more than 222.33 LMT (lakh metric tons) of crops should be procured by 25 April 2021. While 77.57 lakh metric tonnes of crop was procured in the same period last year. For the first time, farmers in Punjab have started receiving payments directly to their bank accounts for the sale of their wheat crop. About 8,180 crore rupees have already been sent directly to the accounts of farmers in Punjab.
According to the instructions of the government, all procurement agencies adopted the method of sending money online to the bank accounts of farmers. This makes the farmers of Punjab / Haryana quite happy because under "One Nation, One MSP, One DBT", for the first time they are getting direct profit for the sale of their crops without any delay and cropping.
